When to Fold 'Em
"Every gambler knows / That the secret to survivin' / Is knowin' what to throw away / And knowin' what to keep" - Kenny Rogers, The Gambler
What's On My Mind Right Now
What's this! A quick end-of-year note. :)
As we exit the year, I'm declaring link bankruptcy. I've dumped all the other interesting links I couldn't get to write about this year below for your reading pleasure so I can start 2024 with my 'queue' empty.
Something in there may inspire you.
I want to leave you with one of the best motivational videos I've seen this year. From the 2012 Bennington College graduation, actor Peter Dinklage, who graduated from there, speaks about 'Failing Better':
Now I tell the story, because the world might say you are not allowed to yet. I waited a long time out in the world before I gave myself permission to fail. Please, don’t even bother asking, don’t bother telling the world you are ready. Show it. Do it.
What did Beckett say? 'Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.'
If you can, watch the whole thing here.
